Bell Tower 2011 Update
10/26/2011 The bell no longer squeaks! Leroy helped. I carried a folding chair and lubricant up the rungs on the inside of the tower. WD40 and axle grease silenced the squeak!
Bell Tower 2007 Adventure
The bell tower adventure was a volunteer painting task. Leroy and Jason and others (the bell tower conspiracy group) made this another fun project. Alas, we ran out of paint for the east side, but finished when we got more. It is bigger and higher than it appears! There were only 19 steps up the inside of the tower, but they were about 18 inches apart. Standing in the upper space, it took an 8 foot extension roller to reach the highest areas.
So, imagine leaning out, with an electrical cord threaded through your belt loops for a safety harness! Then, think of an appropriate Hitchcock movie!
It was a beautiful, clear day. Hot, but we worked in the morning, dodging the sun. Actually, we worked on it 3 different days. Leroy says I can ring the bell now!
