Georgia High Point Hike

Highpoint 34. Georgia, Brasstown Bald, 4784 ft, 10/11/03

Used Wingers' book for guidance. Zumwalt's book has a good area map, which also shows nearby peaks.

If approaching on State Hwy 180 from the east, it is easy to turn too soon. Wait for the 'Brasstown Bald Visitor Center Chattahoochee National Forest' sign. See the map below.

There are rest rooms at the trail head. I was there on a Saturday, and a variety of hot food was available under a tent. The Gift Shop and Book Store was also open.

Following is what you will see on a clear day.

This poster is on a bulletin board at the trail head/parking area.
This plaque is located at the top of the trail, about 100 feet from the top structure.
This marker is located behind a locked gate, inside the top structure. There are other markers at the site but I got tired of looking for them in the rain.
