Maryland High Point Hike
Highpoint 14. Maryland, Hoye Crest on Backbone Mountain, 3360 ft, 8/25/03
Used Winger's book for guidance. There are supposed to be orange blazes on the trees, but we noticed none.
Zumwalt's book has a road map.
If you use Wingers' hiking map, there is a shortcut to the left, marked by a stone cairn, before the loop, to the state line marker.
There are no rest rooms at the trail head or the summit.
While I found no benchmarks at the highpoint, there is a benchmark at the state line marker.
